Malteco rum is an Italian creation, born from the imagination of Marco Savio, already at the origin of the Malecon Rum. His story is rather atypical, because his creator had to face some obstacles to go to the end of his project. It was originally distilled in Guatemala at the Licoreria Quetzalteca. But when the Diageo group took over the distillery in 2011, it decided to devote its entire production to its two flagship brands: Botran and Zacapa.
