Rabelo is a limited release to celebrate the 7th anniversary of
Distillery De Molenberg. Rabelo cargo boats were used for centuries to
transport port casks from the Douro Valley to the wineries in Porto. The literal
meaning of Rabelo is ‘little tail’, a reference to the tiller at the back
of the boat that makes navigation possible.
After a basic maturation of 36 months in Bourbon barrels, this edition was
finished for 28 months in white port casks. The underlying notes of vanilla,
oak and caramel are beautifully complemented by fruity, slightly spicy
aromas and enriched with a soft, warm sweetness that lingers for a long time.
