Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese whisky. The distillery, founded in 1934, is founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, who studied his craft in Scotland. Notes of delicate smoke, orchard fruit and soft spice run through to a satisfying finish. A dram to sip slowly, neat or with just a splash of water. Hints of malty depth add further depth as it opens in the glass. It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate or a plate of aged cheese. One to open on occasions that deserve something better than the everyday.
